MY ECOMMERCE JOURNEY

Interior Designing paved the path for me to move to the USA in 2015.

I completed my education, only to realize that it was never my true calling. So for some time, I vacillated between my decision to pursue architecture or to become an entrepreneur.

But by 2016, after working as a Merchandising Manager at a local company in Skokie; I figured that there is nothing that interests me more than following my passion to succeed in any profession that I chose. And my choice was clear. I forayed into the world of E-commerce.

However, it wasn’t just financial freedom and exercise of entrepreneurial skills that led my skill drift to Ecommerce. After self-teaching myself the entire process of Drop-shipping, I realized that this was the only method out of the bouquet of businesses this world provides you; that required a minimal investment.

Here, I could leverage my personal credit line to run the business. Investing a rough figure of about $10K, without a mentor to rely on was going to be tough. But never did I imagine that finally when I decided to start with Amazon in 2017, it would lead to me an account suspension. That too at the very first step; the registration.

The reason was a minor spelling mistake in my document that I provided the company. My account got suspended under Section-3. Even hiring experts wasn’t going to help me join the race, once again.

This defeat left me broken, but not without options. Either I could register a seller account on someone else’s name or buy a running Amazon seller account from an established business. But the feasibility of these options created a disparity in reality of the situation. However, I didn’t give up. This relentless attitude enabled me to begin exploring other Ecommerce Marketplaces such as Walmart, Shopify and many more; before finally opting for Drop-Shipping through Ebay.

It had its challenges too, but nothing that couldn’t be met. Coping with time management issues to deciding on a virtual assistant to help me with the business, I remained undeterred to build an e-commerce empire.

I made it but I still continue working on the same, overcoming every day; only to look back, learn and share my experiences with businesses. For a great leader is never a part of your success, but of your journey too!
